Alyssa Galvan 10/28/18 Blog 2 Prompt 1: The cultural artifact I chose was the music video for the song Do It Like a Dude by Jessie J. I chose this to be my cultural artifact because it clearly shows and challenges gender representation. When I was younger, I was on a hip hop team and was so excited to start dancing this style of dance. My instructor had created a dance to this song and I fell in love with this routine. I fell in love with the way it made me feel. It made me feel powerful and risky. The routine had us doing moves that matched her lyrics such as, “grab my crotch” and “wear my hat low like you”.
